She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton PARKER Sr. on April 4, 1983.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Clayton and Janice PARKER of Belmont, Cindy Ann and Jerry ECKER of Kentwood, Lori and Dwight "Ike" FREY of Newaygo; her grandchildren, Heather Lynn PARKER, Laura Lynn and Todd NAGEL, Rose Lane FREY, Amber PARKER; great-grandchild, Cody; sister, Dorothy KAMERAAD of Lansing; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Parker is 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford, with the Rev. Dick Riley officiating. Interment is in Bostwick Lake Cemetery.

Stanton - Norman E. PARRISH, 66, formerly of Stanton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999.
He was born June 22, 1932, in Firth, Idaho, the son of L.V. and Zelpha KIRK PARRISH.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey L. PARRISH; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Rachel and Danny GESELMAN, Julie PARRISH, Kathryn and James BEACH, all of Stanton, Lynda and Ted JOLLS of Limestone; nine grandchildren, Meredith, Samantha, Megan, Susannah and Audry Jo GESELMAN, James, Amanda, Mitchell and Jonathan BEACH.
Funeral services were held today at the Stebbins & Simpson Funeral Home, Stanton, with Pastor Bill Bode officiating. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Stanton.

Warren - Albert L. PATCH, 79, of Kingman, Ariz., formerly of Michigan, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Kingman Medical Center, Kingman, Ariz.
He was born April 23, 1920, in Toledo, Ohio.
Mr. PATCH worked as an accomplished bricklayer before becoming disabled. He served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. PATCH made seven amphibious assault landings. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart (wounded in Okinawa), and commendation for his service during battles fought on Guam. He was a member of the Sixth Marine Division Association, VFW and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his children, Bradley and Bonnie, Vicki KITCHEN, Mark and Rose PATCH; sisters and brothers, Ellen WICKENHEISER, Victor and Lorraine PATCH, Alicia and Ray OLDHAM; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile), Warren. Private interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Stanton - H. Zane PATRICK, 75, of 420 N. Court St., P. O. Box 506, Stanton, died Friday, May 14, 1999, at United Memorial Long Term Care Unit in Greenville.
He was born Sept. 24, 1923, in Mancelona, the son of Andrew and Alice FULTZ PATRICK.
Mr. PATRICK was a resident of Stanton since 1953, and previously lived in Saginaw. He owned and operated the State Farm Insurance agency in Stanton from 1953 to 1989.
He was a former Stanton city councilman, a member of First Congregational Church, the Stanton Star Lodge #250 F&AM, the Crescent Chapter #47 O.E.S., and the Stanton American Legiion. He was a member of the Stanton Rotary Club where he was a past president and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award.
On June 12, 1943, in Mancelona, he married B. Irene PATRICK.
She survives along with one daughter, Betty SMITH of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Bea PATRICK of Grayling; three grandchildren and one spouse, Trisha and Ronald SMITH, Travis PATRICK, Erin PATRICK; one great-grandson, Connor SMITH; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Greta MILNE of Mancelona, Barbara and Dexter VELIQUETTE of Elk Rapids; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Madeline PATRICK of Mancelona, Glenn and Marilyn PATRICK of Big Rapids, Andrew and Billie Sue PATRICK of Hesperia; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services are Monday at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church, Stanton, with the Rev. David Engler officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Stanton.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Stebbins & Simpson Funeral Home, Stanton.

Marion - Patricia M. PATRICK, 63, of Lakeview, formerly of Dearborn Heights, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at her home.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1936, to Frank J. and Martha NOESKE WISZ in Detroit.
She married Thomas PATRICK on July 19, 1958, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Dearborn Heights.
Mrs. PATRICK recently retired to Lakeview after living 25 years in Dearborn Heights and nine years in Jackson. She attended Wayne State University in Detroit and worked as a customer service representative for Staff Pro CMS in Jackson. In her younger years, she was an instructor at Weaver Music in Allen Park, where she gave accordian lessons. She also enjoyed making Victorian photo albums and fabric photo frames with her own business, Fabric Fancies by Patricia.
She was a lifetime member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Dearborn Heights and also attended St. Frances deSales Catholic Church in Lakeview. Mrs. PATRICK was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed attending family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and her husband also loved vacationing at their property in the eastern Upper Peninsula.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas PATRICK of Lakeview; children, Carrie and Jeffrey HADDEN of Oxford, Dr. Cathleen and Dr. Gary PADDEN of Lakeview, David and Kristin PATRICK of Canton, Dr. Sandra PATRICK-TAYLOR and fiance, Erick STANTON, of Grand Rapids; her mother, Martha WISZ of Livonia; brothers and sisters, Dorothy and Grat RIFFE of Aiken, S.C., Bonnie WISZ of Detroit, Frank and Marsha WISZ of Milford, Lynne and Jerome KILLIAN of Brooklyn, Jeff and Brenda WISZ of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren, Andrew and Ally PADDEN, Joel and Ross HADDEN.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Frances deSales Catholic Church, Lakeview, with Father Phil Slwinski and Pastor David Braak officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Catholic Church in Lakeview.

She was born March 26, 1914, in Tazewell County, Va., the daughter of Beverly J. and Mary B. LAWSON TABOR.
On Sept. 2, 1930, she married George G. PATRICK, who preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1995.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Serena PATRICK of Jonesville; two daughters and one son-in-law, Louise COSTNER of Greenville, Janice and Leonard J. VANDER MEY of Dallas, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
She also is preceded in death by one son, George Jr. in 1952; one sister, Edith HACKNEY in 1959; three brothers, Harold TABOR in 1973, Frank TABOR in 1976, and James TABOR in 1979.
She was a member of the Church of the Rock Assembly of God.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Dale Murray and Pastor Logan Nash officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens.

Ionia - Donald "BJ" PAULIN, 24, of Orleans, passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, due to accidental injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Sept. 7, 1975, in Pontiac, the son of James and Donna OWENS PAULIN. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He married Beth YODER Oct. 3 of this year. She survives him in Orleans. Also surviving are his father, James PAULIN of Orleans; his mother, Donna and Robert SCHMITZ of Pewamo; one son, Nathan STAFFEN of Ionia; one daughter, Karlie Ann PAULIN of Lowell; two stepdaughters, Tia Marie SWART and Alyssa Danielle SWART, both of Orleans; three brothers and one sister-in-law, James Albert PAULIN of Muir, Albert Edward PAULIN of Orleans, Sean Michael and Michelle PAULIN of Greenville; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Patrick, in 1975; grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa PAULIN and Grandma and Grandpa OWENS.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ionia, with the Rev. Melvin Fox officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Ionia.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home, Ionia, where a rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m.

She was a 1956 graduate of Greenville High School. Betty had been employed at the Greenville Meijer store since 1968.
She was married to Gerald C. PAULSEN on Aug. 22, 1958, by the Rev. St. Clair Parsons at his cottage at Turk Lake.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1990.

During her working years, she was employed as a blueprint operator at Weber Showcase for many years and also worked at Cameo in Grand Rapids in the custom design department.
Anna also was very active in the Episcopal Church in Grand Rapids.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Sr. and Judy Mae BARBOUR of Irons; three daughters and one son-in-law, Phyllis LINDSEY of Dundee, Francine NASSIF of Pierson, Margaret and Dana HOCH of St. Petersburg, Fla.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Floyd MC VAY of Lake Odessa; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard.

During her working years she worked as a nurse's aide at various locations as well as working as a waitress. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Gray Ladies Red Cross Auxiliary, and a life member of the Sand Lake Garden Club.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Leon PARKER of Sand Lake, Joan and James OSTRANDER of Sidney; one stepson, Richard PENNELL of Mount Clemens; one stepdaughter-in-law, Mary PENNELL of Gowen; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother-in-law, Alma and Carl MC NEES, Lois WULFF, Marion JONES, all of Pierson, Shirley JOHNSON of Wyoming, Patsy ESBAUGH of Trufant; two sisters-in-law, Marge PENNELL, Frances WARD WOHLFORD; many nieces and nephews.

Edmore - Derward C. "Der" PETERMAN, 77, Edmore, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at Saginaw Veterans Hospital.
He was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Sheridan, to Chester and Zella FISH PETERMAN.
Der and his family moved to Edmore in March 1953 and went into business with Clifford Dobbrastine. After 13 years at the gas station they purchased Cliff & Der's Ford Sales & Mercury Sales.
Der served in the U.S. Army from September 1942 until December 1945. He spent nearly two years in the South Pacific with the American Division as a T-Sergeant. He was a charter member of Sheridan VFW Post and transferred to Kelsey Wiley VFW Post 2292 in Edmore in 1953, serving as post commander several times.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald; two sisters, Audrey ST. PETERS and Vernadine "Red" HENRY.
Mr. PETERMAN is survived by his wife, Rhea E. DOBBRASTINE PETERMAN whom he married on Nov. 15, 1942, in Oklahoma. Also surviving are his children, Larry PETERMAN of Mount Pleasant, Linda and Allen HARDIN of Norfold, Va., Garett and Linda PETERMAN, Jackie and Pauline PETERMAN, all of McBride, Rodney and Jodie PETERMAN of Chesaning; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gernard and Mary Jane PETERMAN of Stanton, Mike and Ruth PETERMAN of Turk Lake, Bob PETERMAN of Sheridan; one sister, Bernadine "Brownie" THAYER of Sheridan.

Mrs. PETERMAN was a member of Turk Lake Methodist Church and retired from Frigidaire after many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Raymond and Lloyd MILLS.
Mrs. PETERMAN is survived by her husband, Mike, whom she married 21 years ago; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Andrea ADAMS of Gaithersburg, Md.; one stepdaughter, Christie HARDY of Greenville; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Mark, Cynthia, Rob; one stepgranddaughter, Michelle, one great-granddaughter, Ashleigh; and one stepgreat-granddaughter, Hallie.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Turk Lake United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

Belding - Alojzia "Louie" PETERNEL, 64, of Orleans, passed away Sunday, August 1, 1999, in Greenville.
Louie was born June 19, 1935, in Podpec, Slovenia, the son of Jurji and Marie LIPOVEC PETERNEL.
In the late 1970's Louie came to the United States to work in the furniture industry. He was a kind and gentle man and a good friend.
He is survived in Slovenia by two brothers and six sisters; special friends, the Pedro Ramos family of Greenville and Andy Didyk of Long Lake.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Belding, with Deacon Howard Scheid officiating. In keeping with his wishes, interment will be next to his family in Slovenia.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

She was born in Greenville on Feb. 2, 1927, the daughter of Charles and Florence G. SATTERLEE BAILES.
She graduated from Greenville High school in the class of 1945, and on Aug. 23, 1946, was married, in Greenville, to Lee V. PETERSEN by the Rev. Dr. St. Clair Parsons, of the First Congregational Church.
For many years she worked in Trufant in the pharmacy of Miller Drug Store and later for the O'Donald Pharmacy in Greenville.
Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1986.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Larry A. and Sandy PETERSEN of Wyoming; her grandchildren, Jil R. and Brian MARCUM of Grand Rapids, Bryan PETERSEN of Gowen and Kellie PETERSEN of Wyoming; three great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Calvin WITTENBACH of Greenville; two nephews and one niece.

Mrs. PETERSEN, formerly of Pontiac, was a resident of the Sidney area since 1987. She was a member of Nevins Lake Church, Stanton.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and David KRAVITZ of Lutz, Fla., Debra and Tony GREER of Danville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Paul FORSYTHE of Mesa, Ariz.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard and Ardy JOHNSON of Big Rapids, Bruce and Ruth Ann JOHNSON, Wayne and Carolyn JOHNSON, all of Stanton; several nieces and nephews.

Greenville - On Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, Johanna LYNDRUP PETERSEN, 99, began her final journey home to be with her Lord and reunited with her beloved husband, the Rev. Johan PETERSEN; her brothers, Chris, Harold, Peter, Thorvald and William; and sisters, Clara, Maren and Ellen, who preceded her in death.
Born Sept. 16, 1899, she passed away just seven months prior to her 100th birthday.
Johanna's life begain in Chicago, Ill. She moved with her parents to a farm in Greenville in 1906. She graduated from Greenville High School and attended Western Michigan College to become a teacher.
In 1939, she married the Rev. Johan PETERSEN, a busy pastor who had two Lutheran congregations -- one in Detroit and one in London, Canada. A year later they moved to Ruskin, Neb., serving that congregation for eight years.
Later, they moved to Flaxton, N.D., where she helped her husband minister in the Lutheran congregations of Flaxton, Vowdells and Northgate, N.D. The role of a pastor's wife was one Johanna bore with pride, honor and dignity. Because of her husband's failing health, they moved to Rockford in 1958, where Johanna resumed her elementary teaching career. In 1964 it was necessary for her to give full-time care to her faithful husband. Five years later they returned to Greenville and joined St. Paul Lutheran Church. Not long after, her husband passed away.
Johanna's door on Montcalm Street was always open to family and friends. A hot cup of coffee and homemade Danish pastry were a must. As the matriarch of the LYNDRUP family, her sage advice was often sought.
In 1997, she moved to Bishop Hills Nursing Home in Rockford to live out her faithful life to all mankind.
Johanna was one of 10 children -- three sisters and six brothers. All are deceased except Luther, her 88-year-old brother who lives in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and one foster daughter, Rosemary KOSTER of Minot, N.D.
Funeral and committal services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Greenville, with Pastor Tom Zollman and Eugene Wekander officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in South Sidney Cemetery.
Johanna will be in repose at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, today.
Members of the family will meet with friends on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church for visitation until time of services.
Memorial contributions may be made in Johanna's name to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Greenville - Milo Lavern PETERSEN, 78, Benita Street, Greenville, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at United Memorial Hospital.
Mr. PETERSEN was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Belding, the son of Milo and Eledia CLARK PETERSEN.
He graduated from Belding High School in 1939. He worked in his father's carpentry and demolition business until entering the U.S. Marine Corps in 1941, serving in the Pacific Theater at Iwo Jima and Peleliu. After World War II, he began working in Greenville, where he met Roberta FREEMAN. They were married in Greenville on Jan. 18, 1947.
He was principally occupied in the life insurance business until 1961, when he entered the First State Bank, and then later, Commercial State Savings Bank of Greenville, from which he retired as vice president in 1984.
In his youth he was a member of Belding Church of Christ. Mr. PETERSEN, in his later years, was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, Greenville, serving there in various capacities. He served as a volunteer at United Memorial Hospital for Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program. He was a member of various service, conservation and veterans' organizations including Greenville Lions Club, American Legion Ray I. Booth Post 101, Cleveland-Wolverton Post 3794 VFW, Flat River Conservation Club, Ducks Unlimited and First Marine Division Association.
Mr. PETERSEN was well-known locally as a fisherman, hunter and conservationist. As a youth, he earned pocket money trapping. Alone and with his friends, he hunted and fished throughout Michigan and North America.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta M. PETEREN; one son, Dr. Stephen C. PETERSEN of Clarksburg, W.Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, Maurice Adair and Betty PETERSEN of Belding; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lester and Betty FREEMAN of McMillan, Norwood and Beverly HOOSE of Owosso, Jim and Phyllis BAER of Lincoln, Neb.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Greenville First United Methodist Church with his pastor, the Rev. Harry R. Johnson, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville.

He was born March 25, 1963, in Carson City, the son of Rasmus P. and Marie F. MICKELSEN PETERSEN.
Mr. PETERSEN was a tree trimmer for the Ionia County Road Commission from 1958 to 1966. He was a member of Greenville Royal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his mother, Marie F. PETERSEN of Perrinton; his fiancee, Lou MAHLICH of Greenville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Penny and Robert MC COWN of Woodland, Tammy and Jeff SPINDOR of Mineral Wells, Texas, Kathy BENNETT of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one son, Tony PETERSEN of Ionia; four sisters, Grace LOWERY of Ionia, Sylvia PETERSON of Cedar Lake, Lilly WYMER of Punta Gorda, Fla., Dorothy STRACK of Perrinton; one brother, Gordon PETERSEN of Grant; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick PETERSEN, during World War II at Berlin, Germany, in 1945; and SSgt. Clarence PETERSEN, retired from United States Air Force, in 1990.

Greenville - Stanley R. PETERSEN, 81 of Leland Dr., Greenville, died Monday evening at his home.
He was born August 11, 1917, near Gowen, the son of Christian and Anna SVENDSEN PETERSEN.
He was a graduate of Greenville High School in 1936, a veteran of the U.S. Army in WWII and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He began working for the Standard Oil Co., now AMOCO, as a jobber in 1947 and then founded Petersen Oil Co. of Greenville, retiring in 1979.
He was married to Jeanette L. STOPPEL on Nov. 9, 1946, in Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille MOORE, Rita RASMUSSEN and Dora HASELTON.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years; their children, Thomas B. and Fran PETERSEN of Greenville, Paul and Diane PETERSEN of Holt, Amy and Keven SMITH of Greenville; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson; one brother-in-law, Max MOORE of Trufant; two sisters-in-law, Helen TRAILL of Holt and Ruth RUSSELL of Lansing; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Scott Linder, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating.

She married Henry J. PETERSHEIM on Feb. 17, 1949, in Ohio.
Mrs. PETERSHEIM, formerly of Minnesota, was a resident of the Lakeview area since 1989.
She is survived by her husband, Henry J. PETERSHEIM; two daughters, two sons and their families, one sister, two brothers and their families.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the PETERSHEIM home, located at 5499 W. Kendaville Road. Interment will be in Amish Greenville Church District Cemetery, Stanton.

Mrs. PETERSON had been a resident of Harrison since 1985, formerly of Stanton and Palo. She was a member of Palo Rebekah Lodge 389, LEA 53 of Palo and LAPM 10 of Midland.
She was married to Robert W. PETERSON on June 4, 1949, in Ionia.
She is survived by her husband; one son and his friend, Raymond PETERSON and Karen QUINCY of Jerome; one daughter-in-law, Kay OLIGNY of Lowell; two grandchildren, Melissa PETERSON and Justin PETERSON, both of Lowell.
She was preceded in death by two infant sons who died at birth, Roger and Ronald, and a third son, Robert Allen PETERSON, who died Jan. 8, 1992.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stebbins and Simpson Funeral Home, Sheridan, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Interment will be in Palo Cemetery, Palo.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, a member of the Asenath Circle of United Methodist Church Womens Group, and a Red Cross volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, in 1984.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Linda PETERSON of Edmore, three grandchildren, Susan and Mark AMENT of Niles, Beth PETERSON and Michael PETERSON, both of Edmore; and a great-grandson, Alexander AMENT.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Sunday at New Life United Methodist Church in Six Lakes, with Pastor Larry Brown and Pastor Connie Bongard officiating.

Greenville - Lyle Edison PHILLIPS, 90 of Wabasis Avenue, Greenville, passed away Wednesday evening, Sept. 15, 1999, at Home of Hope, Grand Rapids.
The son of Eddie and Evah WOOD PHILLIPS, he was born March 31, 1909, in Belvidere Township.
In his youth, he lived near Petoskey, Muskegon and finally Greenville. Since retirement he wintered in Arizona, returning to farm at Wabasis Lake in the summers.
Lyle was a devoted family man and had varied interests, including gardening, furniture building and restoring, and music. He collected, restored and played violins, often giving some to eager young children. Family and friends will cherish the years we had with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Walter PHILLIPS on May 16, 1996; one sister-in-law, Lucile THOMPSON; three brothers-in-law, Raymond HUBBS, Dale HUBBS, and Fred THOMPSON.
Surviving are his wife, Maxine HUBBS PHILLIPS, whom he married on Nov. 17, 1934; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and List PHILLIPS of Concrete, Wash., Greg and Sharon PHILLIPS of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Les BRONKEMA of Greenville; one adopted daughter, Jackie ANSTETT DAHL and her husband, Phil of Montana; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Irene PHILLIPS and Jean HUBBS; several nieces and nephews.
At Mr. PHILLIPS request, his remains have been donated to the University of Michigan School of Medicine, Department of Anatomy, Ann Arbor.
Private family services were held.

Mason - Leah Jean POLLOK, 86, of Williamston, died Monday, July 5, 1999.
She was born Dec. 15, 1912, in Ingham Township, Ingham County.
Leah was an elementary school teacher for 34 years. Half of that time was spent teaching in a one-room rural school and the remainder she taught third grade at Steel St. School in Mason. She treasured both the kids and friendships she made. Her church and faith were a very important part of her life, spending many years teaching Sunday School classes.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vance POLLOK in 1988, and one brother, Roland DIEHL.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Nancy of Williamston; two grandsons, Scott and Charla of Williamston, Bruce of Wyoming; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Kirsten and Brendan; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Donna DIEHL of Belding.
Funeral services will be Thursday noon at the Gorsline-Ruchiman Co. Ball-Dunn Chapel, Mason, with the Rev. Stephen Ezop, pastor of Dansville and Wheatfield United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason.
The family will receive friends at the chapel today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Arrie A. Pierce Popplewell died at her home in Greenville, Friday, March 15, 1918. She was born September 8th, 1865, and was married to George Popplewell, April 3, 1906. To this union one son was born, George Lial. She is survived by one son, a loving husband, a father, mother, one brother, Edson R. Pierce and one sister, Mrs. George Perry. She was a devoted Christian and faithful to the church. She will long be remembered by her friends and her body will rest in the Greenville cemetery (Forest Home). We go with her as far as the grave and then turn back for we are sure she hath done waht she could.

Mrs. PORTER was a resident of the Stanton area since 1969, formerly of Pinckney. She was a member of the Stanton American Legion Post 452 Ladies Auxiliary.

Greenville - Gary Lee POST, 45, Greenville, went home to Heaven Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, after a six-year battle with brain cancer.
Gary was born Dec. 27, 1953, the son of Arthur and Ruth BUSMAN POST of Marne.
On April 29, 1977, he married Carol BIERMA.
Gary was known for his deep Christian faith, his love of farming, his passion for music and his devotion to his family. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1976 and was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 22 years.
Gary was a member of Oakwood Christian Reformed Church, where he will be remembered as a devoted deacon and an enthusiastic member of the choir.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, and their children, Melissa, Heidi, Renee and Nathaniel; his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Phyllis POST, and their children Heather, Jason and Johnathan, of Grand Rapids; one sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Greg BOUCHILLON, and their sons, Grant and Chase, of Nashville, Tenn.; his mother, Ruth POST of Coopersville; one brother-in-law, Lewis PETERSEN of Howard City; his mother-in-law, Margaret BIERMA of Grand Rapids; one sister-in-law, Bonnie BIERMA of Whitehall; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Arthur POST, in 1981, and by his sister, Carolyn PETERSEN, in 1991.

POTTER, ELLIS JARRARD

Greenville - Ellis Jarrard POTTER, 83, passed away May 26, 1998, in DeLand, Fla.
Jarrard was born in Greenville on Dec. 4, 1914, the youngest child of Roy and Myra POTTER, and a descendant of some of Greenville's earliest pioneers.
He graduated from Greenville High School in 1931, and enlisted in the Michigan State Police in 1937.
He began his State Police career as a trooper and was regularly promoted. During World War II, as a detective, he worked in both criminal and internal investigations, and as a liason with the governor's office investigating instances of espionage and sabotage. While a sergeant, he commanded the post in Michigan's largest city, Detroit. Mr. POTTER rose to the rank of first lieutenant and retired as assistant district commander of the Lansing post in January 1966.
Mr. POTTER became chief of police in Owosso immediately following his retirement from the State Police. During his 10 years as chief, he established the first training school for police officers in Shiawassee County and was instrumental in the founding of Lansing Community College's education program for local law enforcement officers. He retired from the Owosso Police Department in 1976 and moved to Florida, where he and his wife, Ellen, enjoyed golf, square dancing and travelling the United States and abroad.
During his long career in law enforcement, Mr. POTTER complete several college courses, training programs and seminars, and received numerous commendations. He was a member of the Elf Khurafeh Shrine of Saginaw, Scottish Rite Bodies at Bay City, a past worshipful master of the Owosso Masonic Lodge, and a member of several law enforcement associations.
Jarrard POTTER is missed and survived by his wife of 52 years, Elisabeth "Ellen" POTTER of DeLand, Fla.; daughters, Joan CARPENTER LEE of Keene, Texas, Nancy POTTER INGLIS of Austin, Texas, Myra POTTER BOLINGER of Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, Richard E. POTTER of Chicago, Ill.; and several grandchildren.
An interment service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville, led by Pastor Harry R. Johnson of First United Methodist Church.

Mr. POWELL is survived by his wife, Lois, whom he married May 25, 1947, in Rogers City. He also is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Benny and Martha DALRYMPLE of Morganfield, Ky., Jim and Sandi POWELL of Grand Junction, Colo., David and Ruth POWELL of Vestaburg, George and Deb POWELL of Breckenridge; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Tony VAUGHN, Joanne and Buzz MORROW, all of Vestaburg; 26 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Ray HOLT.

Belding - Bette M. PRICE, 75, Belding, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at United Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
She was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Belding, to Frank and Mary STARCOSKI KING.
She was owner/operator of Price's Apparel in Belding for 27 years, with her husband, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the American Legion Hugo Fales Post 203 Auxiliary, the Ladies Golf League at Candlestone Golf Course and the Belding United Methodist Church.
She was married May 13, 1946, in Belding, to William PRICE. He survives with their children, Mary Jo and Robert GREGSON of Cookville, Tenn., Shelle Jean PRICE of Lansing; her mother, Mary KING of Belding; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother-in-law, Robert and Marilyn PRICE of Belding.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary.

PROCTOR, THOMAS O.

Belding - Thomas O. PROCTOR, 66, Belding, passed away Saturday, June 5, 1999, at home.
He was born Nov. 2, 1932, in East Lansing, the son of Merwin and Philomena WIEBER PROCTOR.
He retired from the U.S. Army in 1971 after serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Belding Bible Church and Sheridan VFW Post 5065.
He married Elaine SAIN on Feb. 5, 1955, in Crystal. She survives with their children, Sherry and John ALBERT of Greenville, Sandy and Mark DE JONGE of Grand Rapids, Dan and Jennifer PROCTOR of Grapevine, Texas; six grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Aunda SAIN of Belding; two sisters, Alberta PELKIE of Faribault, Minn., Laura MC CANN of Lansing; and one brother, Jim PROCTOR of Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Kenneth Martin officiating. Interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery, Belding, with graveside military rights conducted by Sheridan VFW Post 5065.
Memorial contributions may be made to Belding Bible Church or Montcalm Area Hospice.

Greenville - Marguerite J. "Marge" PUTMAN, 85, of West Grove Street, Greenville, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at United Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.
She was born in Brinkhaven, Ohio, on Nov. 5, 1914, the daughter of George and Mabel HOWE HOAGLAND.
She worked in restaurants and lounges for many years, including the Park Place in Traverse City, the former City Club in Greenville and also the Candlestone in Belding. She was a member of the Bartenders Hall of Fame and loved the game of golf and especially enjoyed reading.
Marge was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Clarence, Henry and Donald HOAGLAND, five sisters, Maude THOMPSON, Grace ZIMMERMAN, Dolly YAEGER, Ina JONES and Ethel FARMER.
She is survived by one brother, Jack HOAGLAND; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Sandra WALLIN and Arletta GROVES.
Memorial services will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Harry R. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Workman Cemetery, Danville, Ohio.
There will be no visitation.
