Harold & Robert Sherd |
Robert William Sherd (photo on left); served in the Navy during WWII. For his service on the USS Black, Robert earned the American Arena ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon, 1 silver star, 3 bronze stars, Victory Medal WWII and the Philippine Liberation medal.
Bob and Harold were tragically killed in 1947 in a private plane crash on the family farm after having survived the horrors of WWII. It was 3 days after Bob's birthday and on Harold's birthday--a newlywed of 3 mos.
